The Waiting List
Reserve Your Place
Each year, around 600 to 700 students are placed on our waiting list. The number of applicants admitted from the list varies each year and may range from zero to as many as 100.
To reserve your spot on the waiting list, you must return the notification postcard you received with your decision letter or register in the GHQ with the link also provided in the letter. If we do not hear from a student, it is assumed they've chosen not to attend.
We do not rank the waiting list. If there are unfilled spaces in the class, we will reevaluate our needs at that point.
Notification
You may hear from us in late April, but most likely you will not hear from us until after May 1, which is the deadline for admitted students to reserve their places in the class. In the meantime, we recommend you make plans to attend another college and reserve your place in its first-year class since we cannot assure you that we'll admit any students from our waiting list.
Next Steps
We encourage you to communicate to us the depth of your interest in attending W&L. Stay in touch with us and keep us informed of any changes to your record (awards you've won, grades you've earned, etc.). If the event we are able to admit additional students, any updates you share can be very helpful when we review your application again.
