Emergency Management
Our primary goal in emergency management is to prevent emergencies from occurring through nurturing a community of care for one another. But in the event of severe weather, a major incident on campus or a major public health event, W&L has implemented several strategies to keep members of the campus community informed.
In the event of severe weather that could cause a delay in the opening of the university or in a closure, or in the event of a major violent incident on campus or a major public health event, the university will communicate with members of the campus community in a variety of ways depending on the type of incident.
General Alerts provides text message alerts to students, faculty and staff in the event of a major emergency. This important service is available free of charge, and parents and families are allowed to enroll as well. Please register a text-capable cell phone number so you will get these messages.
W&L has developed a comprehensive Emergency Management Plan to provide a prompt and effective response for the protection of W&L students, faculty, staff and campus visitors in an emergency situation.
