The W&L Story

Schools and Academic Offerings

W&L consists of the College, the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics; and a graduate School of Law. Offering 37 undergraduate majors and 30 minors, including a number of interdisciplinary programs, the University prides itself on the depth and breadth of our curriculum, in which traditional liberal arts courses are augmented by offerings from the only fully-accredited business school and fully-accredited journalism program among the nation's top-tier liberal arts colleges.

“What distinguishes W&L are the talented students and exceptional faculty and staff who form the lifeblood of this institution”.

The Sheppard Program

Academics
Students weave together poverty-related courses across campus and hands-on service and internship experiences across the county, the country, and the world to supplement their major areas of study.

Honor, Civility and Trust

Culture
Life on the Washington and Lee campus is influenced heavily by both the Honor System and the Speaking Tradition, which together establish a community of trust and civility held dear by all who have experienced it.
