First-Year Applicants
Current high school seniors or students who have never taken college classes after graduating from high school should apply as first-year applicants.
We hope to make your application to Washington and Lee as straightforward and transparent as possible. W&L offers binding Early Decision and non-binding Regular Decision. Each has separate deadlines, so you may choose the option that is best for you.

Washington and Lee partners with QuestBridge, a national non-profit organization, to assist low-income, high-achieving students connect with high-quality colleges.
Since many international educational systems are different from that of the U.S., we have additional requirements for international applicants.
Home-schooled applicants may submit an application through The Common Application or through a QuestBridge National College Match application. Because of the unique nature of each student's curriculum, W&L requires additional materials to complete home-schooled application.
Students previously enrolled full time at another college or university may apply to Washington and Lee as a transfer student.
