Types of Aid

Types of Aid

W&L offers both merit and need-based aid. Merit-based aid is awarded by the university and outside agencies for academic and other achievements. Need-based aid is awarded to a family based on the demonstrated financial need through the CSS Profile and FAFSA.

Scholarships

W&L offers a number of merit-based awards to high achieving students including the prestigious Johnson Scholarship. The Johnson Scholarship is a four-year award that covers tuition, room and board that is awarded to high-achieving first-year students.

Need-Based Aid

Need-based grants are available to students whose families demonstrate financial need. Eligibility is based on an assessment of the family’s income and assets.
