Fall BBQ
The Fall BBQ is a great way to start off the academic year with food, live music and friends. This event is held in front of the LGBTQ Resource Center the Friday after classes start and is open to the entire W&L community.

LGBTQ+ at W&L
Washington and Lee University's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning Resource Center is dedicated to affirming the existence and development of LGBTQ individuals at W&L, and to supporting a strong and welcoming community among LGBTQ members and allies within the larger institution.
The center provides an open, diverse and safe environment in which all members of the W&L community may explore sexual orientation and gender identity issues, and it serves as a focal point for campus LGBTQ resources, services and programs. The center contributes to the university's commitment to intellectual exploration, diversity and responsible leadership, and upholds the university's values of honor, integrity and civility. The resource center strives to meet its mission by:
- Providing a safe space for students to socialize, study and access resources;
- Organizing and hosting programs and social/support groups;
- Advocating for the needs and concerns of LGBTQ students;
- Empowering students through leadership development; and
- Educating the campus community about issues of sexual orientation and gender identity.
Annual Events:
Pride Week
A week of events held in October to celebrate National Coming Out Day, which is October 11. The week often includes talks led by students, speakers from outside the community, and a Sharing Our Stories event, where LGBTQ members of the W&L community share some aspect of their coming out stories. The week also offers T-shirt sales, free swag and more!
Equality Gala
Held every year in March, the Equality Gala is hailed by many as the best party of the year. Where else can you get food, music and a live drag show? Come as you are; no date or particular dress code required.
